Key facts
- July–August highs regularly pass 100°F.
- Weekly service minimum; 2× for busy summer sites.
- Shade until 4–5 PM cuts odor.
- Hurricane season: June 1–Nov 30 — stake open sites.
How does Valley heat change porta potty service?
Valley heat speeds up odor and evaporates deodorizer, so a unit that is fine in January can smell by midweek in August. July and August afternoons in McAllen regularly top 100°F with high humidity. Keep weekly service at minimum, add a second visit on busy sites, and place units in shade.
“Keep it in the shade too, because that thing, as the week progresses, it gets progressively bad.”

How should I place a unit in summer?
Place the unit where it gets afternoon shade, with the vent away from seating and the door away from the street. Keep it off black asphalt, which radiates heat, and within reach of the service truck. Add a handwash station nearby so crews can rinse off in the heat.
What about hurricane season and floods?
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and Valley downpours can flood low lots fast. On open jobsites we stake units, keep them out of drainage swales, and pull or secure them before a named storm when asked. After storms, units can be deployed as soon as roads reopen.

Questions callers asked us
Will it smell in McAllen heat?
Heat speeds up odor, and Valley afternoons regularly pass 100°F in summer. Keep the unit in shade if you can, turn the vent away from seating, and keep weekly service. Busy summer jobsites should add a second service visit. One caller put it plainly: as the week goes on, heat makes it progressively worse.
How often is the porta potty cleaned?
Units on 28-day rentals are serviced once a week: pumped, scrubbed, deodorized and restocked. Event units arrive clean and stocked. Festivals and multi-day events can add a mid-event service, such as a Saturday-night clean before a Sunday crowd.
Can you set up restrooms after a hurricane or flood?
Yes, as roads allow. Restoration crews, shelters and homes without water service can rent units on short notice after Valley storms. During hurricane season (June 1–November 30), we stake units on open sites and pull or secure them before a named storm when asked.
Can it go at the end of the street instead of my yard?
Keep it on your own property. If a city inspector sees a unit in the street or right-of-way, the rental company gets a call. Place it just inside your property line, on a flat spot, ideally in shade.
